Ali + Jake | At Home - Caledonia Farm Wedding | Moments -by Lauren

Re-living this day brought a smile to my face.

The entire thing played out exactly how Ali + Jake wanted, in such a laid back and fun way that was so true to how they envisioned their wedding from the first time we chatted. They got ready together at their incredible farm house, which allowed them to spend the entire day with each other … something that I had never documented before but immediately loved the purpose behind - as each moment of the day they got to enjoy together.

With their siblings in tow, we made our way along some country roads to tie in another personal element to the couple - the Grain Elevators at Jake’s Family Farm. The unique backdrops were a perfect touch before we swapped out Ali’s bouquet for a beer and jumped back into the trucks to return. That little toast to the couple quickly became my favourite sequence of images from the day, because it so perfectly defined their relationship — a thing that all wedding photographs should accomplish.

Waiting back at their own property were all of their favourite people who gathered to watch them make it official**. An emotional (barefoot) walk down the aisle and adorable ceremony that involved all of their family members was the perfect way to kick start the party. The celebrations continued on the other side of their property, where guests mingled under some string lights and grabbed a bevvy from their killer bar setup.

The hilarious speeches, multiple first dance combinations and rocking dance floor were the best way to carry out the evening under the stars - and a perfect cap to the day these two put together.

** I can’t vouch for if things ARE actually official - Jake signed the wrong part of the licence at the time, which I’m almost sure they corrected after the ceremony was wrapped ;)

Reminisce with me a little bit, would you?…

Brynne + Ben | Downtown Hamilton Engagement Session | Moments -by Lauren

Here’s a perfect cap to your week, pals! A walk through downtown, a beer and a glowy rooftop sunset to lead you into your weekend!

I had such a blast with Brynne + Ben who have me loving winter engagement sessions SO much. There were definitely a couple spots I had in mind for their session, but I love when I can just stroll through a city with my clients and it feels like we’re just hanging out and snapping a few frames along the way. (That’s totally how you normally hang out, right?!)

Check out a few faves, and some of the shenanigans we got up to below!

At Home Family Session | Hamilton Family Photographer | Moments -by Lauren

It’s Family Day, so it’s only appropriate that I share a recent Family Session here on the blog, and when we’re chatting location, this is totally one of my all time faves!

The Sung Family is currently in the process of building their dream home and it was at the perfect stage for us to sneak in for half an hour and update their family portraits! I love that not only are the empty walls and unfinished flooring a perfect neutral backdrop for the images, but will totally bring this crew back to this stage in their life when they look at these images years from now. Especially since Briant (their little guy) will never remember it this way.

Take a scroll through, and let me know what you think of the location — a little twist on the typical at home session!

Hope you all get to enjoy a bit of time with your favourite people today!!

Year In Review : 2018 | Hamilton Wedding and Lifestyle Photographer | Moments -by Lauren

Each year when I begin to craft this “Year In Review” post, I’m always so overwhelmed by the number of moments that have been documented through my lens in the last 365 days. I normally set up shop for a day and relive each wedding and session that I was lucky enough to take part in - and although it takes a bit of time, it’s incredible to summarize the year in this way. I love sharing these favourite moments, just as much as I love getting to recall them through the process.

As I began organizing and rearranging the order of photos (way too many times) I thought about it a little more as I’d scroll up and down this post. I realized that each of these images are not only real memories I’ve been able to capture for my clients, but also memories for me. A visual representation of my work year — and what an amazing one it was.

It brought growth, new clients and friends, and so many little moments worthy of a click of my shutter. All ones that come from a place of “keeping it real” and telling your story in a fun, genuine and relaxed way.

I can’t wait for the new chapter 2019 brings, and I can’t tell you how much I’d love to have your face appear in next year’s post.

I can’t thank my MBL Family enough, and I hope you enjoy this look back!

Behind the Scenes : 2018 | Hamilton Wedding Photographer | Moments -by Lauren

Well friends, here’s a fun look back at all the things you don’t really get to see throughout the year. A look behind the scenes! All of these have been snapped by me, one of my pals second shooting, and even a couple of clients - and they give a quick peek into some of my days behind the lens last year!

You’ll see some action shots, some light tests, and some hilarious outtakes too. Even though I am constantly wearing black, usually have incredibly messy or wind-blown hair, I can guaranteed I’m having such a blast fixing a dress, setting up a shot or petting any dog in sight.

Take a peek, have a laugh and hopefully stick around for the Year in Review coming tomorrow!

Tiffany + Matthew | Old Mill Toronto Wedding Photographer | Moments -by Lauren

While I was heading to Toronto really early that morning, I remember knowing Tiff + Matt’s day would be filled with lots of celebration, lots of moving parts, and timeline that was down to the minute to fit everything in (which was beyond impressive, by the way!). There was going to be two ceremonies, 3 dress changes, and all the other usual fun that comes with a wedding day — all before the day wrapped up at 4pm too.

I knew the schedule, everyone’s names, the layout of the venue and the game plan for our portraits - but what I didn’t know on that drive was how epic and genuine the day was going to turn out to be.

Real moments and traditions are by far two of my favourite things to document and there was no shortage of either that day.

Take a peek.

Marsha + Will | Hamilton Engagement Session | Moments -by Lauren

Well pals, these past couple months have been such a whirlwind! (A really good whirlwind though!)

Now that things are starting to wind down a little bit, I’m so excited to get back to sharing what I’ve been up to (for uhh, basically the last 6 months haha)! I’m going to kick things off with Marsha + Will’s engagement session, and anyone from the Hammer should recognize a few of the spots we hit up!

I’m obviously biased, but these two sure made the waterfront look good - and like a heck of a good time too.

Can’t wait for their big day in March!

Brittany + Dan | Guelph Lake Engagement Session | Moments -by Lauren

Ahhh, it feels good to be back to blogging! I have so much to catch you all up on!!

First up - Brit + Dan - who could not have been more fun to hang out with as we strolled the paths at Guelph Lake a couple months ago on what was definitely the warmest day in April. With absolutely nothing to block us from the insane wind that was going on that night, these two were up for whatever I threw their way and we pretty much laughed our way through the entire session!

These guys are so fun-loving that our little hike through the trail felt just like we were old pals catching up -- mainly joking about the absolutely terrible shoe choice by yours truly. (whoops!)

I'm heading back up highway 6 for their big day later this summer and if you know these guys - you know it'll be a party. Stay tuned.

Ali + Jake | At Home Engagement Session | Moments –by Lauren

Ok, so before we get into how amazing Ali + Jake are, I want to let you in on a quick secret. Neither of them were super gung-ho on an engagement session when we first started chatting about their wedding photography… which is totally fine.

Similar to every couple that says that exact thing, I convinced them it was a good idea and they both came around – and were even up for a winter session (bonus!). So we waited for some snow and finally were all set – except for the fact that the snow melted through the afternoon on the day of the session. Seriously…

Lucky for us, we were already planning on shooting a part of the session in Ali + Jake’s new home so after I got there and basically wanted to move in – we spent most of the time just hanging out in their awesome space. I seriously can’t tell you how much I love these two and their ability to just go with the flow.

If I’m being honest, it’s quite the (incredible) jump going from not really wanting to be in front of the camera to letting your photographer stand a foot above you while you’re cuddled up in bed. But boy am I thankful. These adorably fun frames are some of my all time favourites, and I’m so excited to share them below!

Let me know what you think of the “at-home” vibe?? It’s quickly becoming one of my favourite places to shoot!

Event Boutique & Co. | Lifestyle Business Portraits - Hamilton | Moments -by Lauren

I truly love connecting with other entrepreneurs. There’s just something about chatting with a fellow business owner that instantly connects us – because no matter what field you’re in, the ups, downs and stories are all so relatable.

What’s even better than just connecting with these awesome people, though? Is having them in front of my camera!  It was such a blast having Carina of Event Boutique & Co, and her newest team member Alex, hang out in the studio a couple of weeks ago! These amazing ladies wanted some updated images for their website + social media pages and I couldn’t have been happier to oblige. Not only were their style choices on point, but these #BossBabes couldn’t have been more adorable in front of the camera.  Let’s be serious… when these ladies aren’t busy planning corporate events, I’m sure they use their spare time for modelling.

Now, these are not the classic frames that may come to mind when you think of some updated "headshots", but they come from more of a lifestyle approach - which I love so much. They're relatable, they're fun and most importantly they're real. I'd love to know what you think of them, below after you check out a few faves below!!

Happy Monday, Friends!

p.s. If you’re looking to freshen up your headshot or social media game – I’d love to hear from you
