Spring is finally on its way, which means some more engagement sessions are just around the corner in these warmer temperatures. Regardless of the time of year, if you’re looking for some different ideas on what to do for your own engagement session, I’ve got a few to share! I love shooting in a wide variety of locations, and every session is totally custom to you, so check out a couple of ideas that may not have crossed your mind yet:

1.     At Home

There’s no spot that better reflects your style and captures you and your partner in a comfortable state than being at home. Invite your photographer over to hang out in your space, cozy up, and have some fun with it.

2.     At an Airport

Do you two love to travel (when we aren’t in the middle of a pandemic)? This outside-of-the-box idea is completely different than what you may have seen before, and it brings so much variety to your backdrops in a large than life atmosphere!

 3.     Your Favourite Brewery

Kicking back with a cold beer is something I’m sure everyone is looking forward to this summer (or this weekend). Narrow it down to your favourite spot, grab a pint and take the edge off to help break up your session a bit and have some fun at the same time. Bonus: I don’t know about you, but I’ve never been to a Brewery that didn’t have a great aesthetic.

   4.     In a Greenhouse

Instead of a hike or tree-filled backdrop, why not find a gorgeous greenhouse where you can get one space packed with a variety of plants, well groomed gardens and is totally safe from any potential bad weather. There are plenty to be discovered in the GTA if you look for them!

 5.     At the Theatre

Are you two big fans of the movies, or really enjoy live theatre? This idea could be twisted a few different ways, but taking over a Drive-In or Live Performance Theatre are both awesome options for your time in front of the camera!

 6.     Downtown

This is one I’m sure you may have considered already, but I have a few extra ideas. Hands down, one of my favourite things to do with my couples who are looking for an urban vibe is to just explore. There are so many different types of locations or backdrops in a Downtown Core – so why just stick with one. I love hitting up a rooftop, finding different textures and patterns, and even utilizing the city lights. So. Much. Variety = So. Much. Fun. for you city lovers!

 7.     At the Cottage

You can’t go wrong with the cottage vibe. You know what I’m talking about, it’s already one of your favourite places, and “yes” I’m willing to come along!

 8.     On a Golf Course

I’ll take a Golf Course during gold hour any take of the week (here’s a bit of photo evidence). If you’re already a regular on the links this is a no-brainer for you. On the other hand, you have any reservations about it I’m here to let you know that golf courses are often one of the most well maintained green spaces you can find!

 9.     On a Court

Are you and your other half big sports fans? I always love incorporating a passion of yours into your location choice, and finding a field, a court, or a diamond is a great option. There’s always a creative way to incorporate your interests into a relevant (and awesome) way that doesn’t err on the obvious or corny side (that’s just not how I roll).

 10.  Where you Met

There are so many options to this concept, but this one in particular is for any of you couples who met while you were in school. Why not take it back to the days on campus or in the hallways of your high school? So many memories brought back as you’re documenting this exciting chapter. The nostalgia vibes are strong on this one!
