2016 : Year in Review | Moments - by Lauren | Hamilton Wedding Photographer

Well folks, here it is – the one blog post that wraps up an entire year’s worth of favourite frames…and boy is it a doozy.

As I was selecting the images that I loved the most in the past 12 months I realized I’m especially drawn to images that have certain qualities to them. I would imagine this is what draws many of you to me as well… as it’s hopefully something that comes through in my style.

First, I’m looking for the light. (Duh). Light is the start and base of every great shot. Some of my faves are the ones where the light just adds that extra dynamic edge to a shot. Sometimes it goes unnoticed if you aren’t paying attention, but at times it can be the focal point too. A flare can sometimes steal the show…but when it’s done properly, it definitely makes my day.

Next, you should know that I’m constantly searching for compositions. I live for something a little different. I love when I find a hidden gem, a new angle, or position my subjects to not only showcase their best self but also the killer location around them. Having a client request I try new or different things, is like music to my ears. You’ll be able to spot these ones right away!

Last, and most importantly are the moments. I would throw the other two of my criteria out the window every time to get shots like this. It’s my total mission, the name of my company and something I want to help create and capture for every- single-client... because I believe in this so much! Forget the overly posed images…I want the ones that capture you and exactly how you’re feeling in that moment. These always stand out to me every time I go through a gallery and hope they are the ones that you love the most too. These images are the easiest to spot, as they are the ones that will make you feel something in your gut or make you smile.

When I check all three of these boxes – it feels like magic and still to this day will make me giddy to deliver the image.

After trying to find some of these common threads in the images, I knew one thing for sure… without a doubt I can say I have the best job on the planet. I get to tell the story of some of the biggest moments in your life…even if they just seem like ordinary ones.

I was lucky to meet so many new friends in 2016, as well as catch up with some old ones along the way.

As the MBL Family continues to grow…I’d love for you to be a part of it!

Happy New Year, Everyone! I hope the moments that make up your 2017 are the best ones yet!

Masi | Newborn Lifestyle Photographer | Moments -by Lauren

Meet Masi. This little guy was welcomed into the most loving home by his awesome parents and adorable pups. Settling in nicely as the first grandchild to all his grandparents, he’s sure to be spoiled rotten (just as it should be). I spent some time capturing the latest milestone in Britt + Chris’ lives and feel so lucky every time I’m asked back to join them in catching all those little moments that will tell their story.

I’d love for you to start your week off right and take a peek into Masi’s world, his darling nautical nursery, and all the love that comes with it.

Andrea + Joe | Hamilton Engagement Photographer | Moments -by Lauren

Andrea + Joe were so at home in the snow, as we hit the "slopes" for their engagement session last week! After the first part of their session saw not one snowflake, we headed out again after the storm so capture something a little more personalized to these two - and we definitely had some fun. Races... snowball fights... we did it all - and I didn't fall once (much to my surprise)!

After chatting about this idea the first time we met, and learning that Joe even got down on one knee while they were snowboarding, I'm so happy it worked out! Not to mention, their boarding gear is amazzzzing!

Check out a few faves, leave them some love below and come back and visit for their big day this June!

The DiFrancesco's | Hamilton Family Photographer | Moments -by Lauren

I love it when I can share the client's experience in their own words - so instead of telling you about my session with this awesome family this past fall, read about their time with me after you see a few faves!

If you're interested in some more details on my family sessions, I'd love to hear from you! Spring is just around the corner!

Moments-by-Lauren made our family photo experience a great one. Right from the start, Lauren was incredibly helpful. She helped us book our photo shoot location and time based on ideal lighting times during that time of year. As our photo shoot date approached, she emailed us a guide for the day which offered suggestions for clothing and colours, information about how the photo shoot would transpire and tips for keeping everyone comfortable during the shoot. Our day was a gorgeous one and she had great ideas for poses and backgrounds. Our family was comfortable and relaxed and it shows in the large selection of pictures we had to choose from. We ordered our prints online and had them in our possession within a few short weeks. We’re thrilled with the final product which we’ve hung and admire regularly. Lauren does a great job and has established an easy process for her clients. We look forward to updating photos in the future!

Renovation Diaries

If you follow along with my instagram or snapchat, you've likely seen a few of these attached to the #renovationdiaries. I thought a fun way to cap off the few posts I've done on my new studio would be to do a full Before and After, with a few extra behind the scenes photos and videos.

So take a peek at some of my favourite shots of the transformation with quite a few photobombs from my dad, randomly scattered coffee cups, and more then a few changes.

It sure was quite the facelift!

And the side-by-side's are even better to show the real Before & After!

And a few more random shots throughout the process are below!

I obviously couldn't have done this on my own and can't thank my family enough for their support! Although I'm sure there were times we struggled, were too tired to keep going, and wanted to kill each other - I LOVED renovating this place with my Dad. He saw the original potential in this building and after a few design conflicts discussed in a loving manner I seriously couldn't be happier with the way it turned out. (I just count my blessings we have similar taste in music - as it was one less thing to debate!) Whether you pitched in with some of the reno, brought by a coffee or a snack for us in the wee hours or even sent a quick message of support - this process made me realize I'm almost too lucky to have such awesome people in my life that were just as excited to help me as this new venture gets off the ground!

Now that I've shared the full story behind the renovation, I'm so excited to get back to blogging some of my client work! All new images on the blog this week!
